Sign up for the Onyx Academy’s Summer Course and master 3D art for games

This year, Onyx Academy is introducing a free, shorter course, which is a preparation for their longer programs and is intended for beginners and intermediate-level Artists.

Onyx Academy organizes online courses to people from all over the world, and so far, they have offered 35-week programs in Environment and Prop Art. This summer, for the first time, a free 10-week 3D Art course is available, which is great as an introduction to their longer programs, but also for those who want to start building their portfolio. The course implies a full-time commitment – 40 hours of dedication per week.

Javier Benitez, Head of Academy, says: “During our courses, artists are treated as individuals with different needs. Some of our students need more guidance, others thrive without it. The particular needs of each artist are taken into consideration when working as a team, and the summer course will be no different. This means intermediate-level applicants will also benefit from our programs.”

Here’s what you’ll learn in the course:

  • To make awesome 3D models;
  • To optimize them for an engine (Unity or Unreal Engine);
  • To create materials and textures that will tell a story.

For this to be possible, you need to already:

  • Have a basic understanding of 3D modeling and texturing;
  • Understand how optimization works in the most basic sense;
  • Be at least rudimentary familiar with a game engine.

If you recognize yourself in this, applications open on June 1st!
